For families and carers - ACT

Alzheimer's Australia ACT offers a range of education, training and information sessions for carers and friends of people with dementia.

All education and training specifically for carers is free of charge, however, a small contribution is requested for attendance at general information sessions.

Living With Memory Loss

Living with memory loss course assists people who have been newly diagnosed with early stage dementia and a family member or friend. Participants have an opportunity to obtain information; talk confidently with others in a similar situation; focus on maintaining and enhancing skills and abilities and explore ways of managing now and into the future. 

Topics covered include:

  • Symptoms and diagnosis
  • Adapting to change
  • Practical strategies
  • Looking after yourself
  • Planning for the future

The Living with memory loss program is an Australian Government Initiative.

 

Short Education Courses

Alzheimer's Australia ACT receives many requests for 2 to 3 hour education sessions about caring for someone with dementia from community and church organisations.

Information Sessions

Free workshops for family & friends caring for a person with dementia or those who are interested in finding out about dementia.
